North Fambridge Farm
75 homes including 1,000sqm of commercial floorspace and a 1.8 hectare public parkAnother site falling under the jurisdiction of Maldon District Council. This area is complicated one from a spatial planning perspective. The main settlements of Maldon and Heybridge need to grow but are beset with flooding problems. Instead, we promoted a site to the south of the district which was next to a train station with regular services to London.
The village had lost the few services it had due to lack of housing growth since the 1970s. We put forward a scheme that delivered much needed homes, but also a flexible commercial centre.
The commercial development proposed had a range of potential uses including A1 (retail), B1 (office), D1 (health), and D2 (leisure).
This made the existing settlement more sustainable, plus made full use of the train station - a vital infrastructure asset.
